Bio ~She Was the Carnation & the Rose (USA) was formed in the late rainy winter months of 2023, by singer Noemi Sarog, songwriter Michael Seebold, and drummer Bill Eagen. The band's debut album The Guardian Angel, releasing _______________, comprises five original songs with atmospheres ranging from the melancholic to the serene, an emphasis on diverse song structures, and storytelling in each song, both Seebold and Sarog bringing a background in theatre (Sarog, an actor/singer for stage and screen - Seebold, a playwright) to the theatrical stories of the first LP. The Guardian Angel will be the first of a planned trilogy of albums (the "stained glass" trilogy), across which listeners can expect a palette of dream atmospheres, mellifluent and dark passages interwoven, the odd jazz nocturne and classical minuet. "Origins & influences lie somewhere in the melodic haunted space between Opeth's Watershed and Tristania's World of Glass," says Seebold. ------.....more here.....-------- The first single, "Birds Before Rain," is _______________________ |

1. "Woman Going Somewhere in the Snow"
Then coming past the churchyard
Through darkness windless and reserved, we heard
Three owls in the belfry: who? who? who?
As something moving found us
Who’s there? Just there. Hello?
Some whirl of white receding
The moon and lamps showed nothing clear, but see:
Apart from snow and darkness
What hands? Whose grief? Two eyes?
And she is going somewhere
But where? oh where? and why?
How should mere snow and darkness
Foretell a future unforetold ‘till now?
In darkness I could love you
At once, from this, and why?
The graves, your hands, the sky,
who? who? who?
I think she nearly saw us
The night that guides her takes her where? And why?
No hand in dark to halt her
As some horned owl unseen
Demands of snow and darkness: who? who? who?
I fear she may have heard us
The night that claims her strands her where? And why?
And by this winter’s stranger
What hands? Whose grief? Two eyes?
I feel that I shall love you
By sting and whim of snow,
The ice in cloud and churchyard
Foretell a future unforetold ‘till now
In darkness I can see you
At once, from this, and why?
The graves, your hands, the sky,
who? who? who?
Strangers vanish slow
Somewhere in the snow
Strangers vanish slow
Somewhere in the snow
And all that shall ever be
Brings you somehow back
To me
Through darkness windless and reserved, we heard
Three owls in the belfry: who? who? who?
As something moving found us
Who’s there? Just there. Hello?
Some whirl of white receding
The moon and lamps showed nothing clear, but see:
Apart from snow and darkness
What hands? Whose grief? Two eyes?
And she is going somewhere
But where? oh where? and why?
How should mere snow and darkness
Foretell a future unforetold ‘till now?
In darkness I could love you

Foretell a future unforetold ‘till now
In darkness I can see you
At once, from this, and why?
The graves, your hands, the sky,
who? who? who?
Strangers vanish slow
Somewhere in the snow
Strangers vanish slow
Somewhere in the snow
And all that shall ever be
Brings you somehow back
To me
2. "Birds Before Rain"
Now the evening sun has descended
And an opal sky bodes rain
For the sake of one unremembered
And the love of one leaving home tonight
Let me this last hour
And these brisk winds capture
With what days hereafter
Will be, and then will be, and then for them will be
And so live
Now in curious opalescence
Several hundred birds disperse
Not borne down by the knowledge
Of all the good we shall not do
Let me this last hour
And these brisk winds capture
With the looming thunder
Thunder…. Thunder…
Dim and strange and silver
Opalescent water
With the birds hereafter
In flight, unseen, returned in flight
One night, and then one day, and then one night dawnless
And cool
And an opal sky bodes rain
For the sake of one unremembered
And the love of one leaving home tonight
Let me this last hour
And these brisk winds capture
With what days hereafter
Will be, and then will be, and then for them will be
And so live
Now in curious opalescence
Several hundred birds disperse
Not borne down by the knowledge
Of all the good we shall not do
Let me this last hour
And these brisk winds capture
With the looming thunder
Thunder…. Thunder…
Dim and strange and silver
Opalescent water
With the birds hereafter
In flight, unseen, returned in flight
One night, and then one day, and then one night dawnless
And cool
3. "Limits of the Wraithlamp District"
Did you think that you’d sleep
After having drawn
The moon and the tower?
Lamps down a dark promenade
Guide you, goad you, gravely tell you:
No one at this hour expects you,
And a moonlit tide is softly receding
Quiet tides
Lamps in rain
Not a sound, save the heartbeat
And the measured breath
And distant sirens
Lamps by the bed seeping gold
Lure you, lull you, and assure you:
All things at this hour involve you
And a moonlit tide is always receding
Lock the door
Douse the lights
It was merely a moon
And a tower,
Paired with a tower…
Why should it matter?
After having drawn
The moon and the tower?
Lamps down a dark promenade
Guide you, goad you, gravely tell you:
No one at this hour expects you,
And a moonlit tide is softly receding
Quiet tides
Lamps in rain
Not a sound, save the heartbeat
And the measured breath
And distant sirens
Lamps by the bed seeping gold
Lure you, lull you, and assure you:
All things at this hour involve you
And a moonlit tide is always receding
Lock the door
Douse the lights
It was merely a moon
And a tower,
Paired with a tower…
Why should it matter?
4. "Magdalena's Minuet"
In sunset’s minuet, my dear,
West of here and waking moments
Vanishing silhouettes revere
Scarcely human dreams
I have been to the tarn thrice in dreams since the spring
And I have seen each time the Crane who knows I’m watching
a priori
I have been to the tarn once at least consciously
And I have seen your eyes in the Crane who knows our story
a priori
When the wind leaves this ancient note
With your listening ear
Look to the stars to find me
For there I will appear
I have not a song to sing
Because the Crane has heard all that I sang
And knows all secrets
a priori
Magdalena’s minuet, rewritten for you
When the wind leaves this ancient note
With your listening ear
Look to the stars to find me
For there I will appear
In sunset’s minuet, my dear,
West of here and waking moments
Vanishing silhouettes revere
Scarcely human dreams
West of here and waking moments
Vanishing silhouettes revere
Scarcely human dreams
I have been to the tarn thrice in dreams since the spring
And I have seen each time the Crane who knows I’m watching
a priori
I have been to the tarn once at least consciously
And I have seen your eyes in the Crane who knows our story
a priori
When the wind leaves this ancient note
With your listening ear
Look to the stars to find me
For there I will appear
I have not a song to sing
Because the Crane has heard all that I sang
And knows all secrets
a priori
Magdalena’s minuet, rewritten for you
When the wind leaves this ancient note
With your listening ear
Look to the stars to find me
For there I will appear
In sunset’s minuet, my dear,
West of here and waking moments
Vanishing silhouettes revere
Scarcely human dreams
5. "The Guardian Angel"
One last gift, then
A prism just for you
Given under loan and law of skull
The task, as known before begun
To listen,
To meld red wonder with the eye, watching distantly,
Unbeholden to the world and unbeheld
Yet there invisibly till both were quelled
And then, to wait for me
And then, to find a quiet way and place to die
A prism just for you
Given under loan and law of skull
The task, as known before begun
To listen,
To meld red wonder with the eye, watching distantly,
Unbeholden to the world and unbeheld
Yet there invisibly till both were quelled
And then, to wait for me
And then, to find a quiet way and place to die
